Haslemere Care Shop

Bordon Shop - Forest Centre, Bordon
Bordon Care Shop Limited

There have been two Shop Managers.  Initially Jean Parrott and latterly Kay Green who has given wonderful continuity and has been in post for over 14 years. There are approximately 27 Volunteers who do a wonderful job. The shop trades under the name “Bordon Care Shop Limited”.

This is a Company Limited by Guarantee with the two shares held by Jennie Vernon-Smith who is a Director, with Carl Tantum, who is also the Company Secretary.

In 1999 the shop received a major internal ‘makeover’ costing some £6,000.  A similar figure has been spent in December 2005 for new lighting, ceiling, etc.. In December 2008 a new reflective wood floor was laid, greatly enhancing the shop's appeal with a new counter and layout.  Jennie Vernon-Smith took over as Director in 2007 and Adrian Thomas as Treasurer in late 2008.

OPENING HOURS...  Mon to Fri - 9.30am to 4.30pm.  Sat - 9.30am to 4pm.   Sundays & Public Holidays - Closed

In Memory of Patricia Green, 1940 - 2011  (Manager Bordon Care Shop)

I very much regret to inform you that Kay Green passed away on the 11th. of February 2011.  Last year Kay had a hip replacement and then fractured her wrist. Having overcome these difficulties she returned to the Bordon Care Shop, but was clearly unwell and further investigations in hospital followed. She was then discharged for a short time and needed to go back to hospital when she died quite suddenly.  This was a tremendous shock for David her son and for all of us. Kay had been Manager of the Bordon Care Shop for nearly 20 years. In that time she had few holidays and fewer illnesses. She gave an outstanding example of continuity and hard work which made the shop – known as Kay’s shop – the focal point of the Community. She brought the turnover up from nothing to an outstanding £1m+ this last year. In that way she helped countless people through the Charity.  To say that she will be greatly missed is an understatement. She gave of herself to everyone.  May God Bless her and may her memory live on in our lives for ever.
