Bordon and Liphook Endowment (Boltini) Fund

Some three years ago in 2009 the Trustees decided to create a Fund which would be there in perpetuity for the local Community. The raison d’etre being that perhaps in the future we may not have the good fortune to be able to have the support of two Charity Shops as we have now. So we had to start somewhere and we decided to put £5,000 per annum into the Bordon and Liphook Endowment Fund and this Fund to be within the Hampshire and IOW Community Fund.

We were fortunate to have the advice of the CEO Toni Shaw as our contribution was matched £ for £ with the Grassroots Fund, a central Government initiative. So £5,000 each year over three years quickly became £30,000 and with interest some £33,000.

In September 2010 the Boltini Family Trust gave us £10,000 to be put into the same Fund and this was matched by further £10,000 Grassroots money. A never to be repeated opportunity wisely taken up. At the same time the Trustees put another £5,000 into the Fund which then became £10,000 !  So we have from start-up three years ago already £63,000 in this Fund which is extraordinary. Already we can in perpetuity complete and “Expression of Wish” form annually and start this April (2011) to drawdown monies for Grants to those in need in our Community. The maximum we can draw is £3,300 at present.

Although the Grassroots monies have finished, there is the opportunity to gift-aid donations and legacies.  This brings with it the certain knowledge of permanent assistance back into the Community.  It is a wonderful prospect and a re-assuring one for those generous givers. We are indebted of course to the Boltini Family Trust and the change of name of our Funds reflects our gratitude.
