HOW THE BORDON AND LIPHOOK CHARITY ASSESSES NEED AND AWARDS GRANTS

Applications for help come from many sources:

The Bordon and Liphook Charity trustees have power to make grants of money, or to provide or pay for items, services or facilities.

Each application is separately examined as to its validity, and where appropriate, a case worker funded by the charity makes an assessment of the request and the degree of need, to help the trustees in their decision making.

All applications for help are treated in the strictest confidence.  Trustees work only on case numbers.  They should be directed to the charity administrator who will be able to assess the urgency of each application and take the appropriate action.  In the case of an emergency, such as a family without food, a phone call to the charity office will ensure a rapid response.

HOW THE BORDON AND LIPHOOK CHARITY WORKS

The Bordon Charity was established and registered in 1994 and was renamed the Bordon and Liphook Charity in 2006.

Generous members of the public are invited to bring surplus clothing and other household effects to our two charity shops in Bordon and Liphook.  All items are checked for their suitability and are then sold to the public at exceptionally low prices.  In this way we provide essential goods to people with low incomes at prices they can afford.

The surplus income, after deduction of our overheads, is put into the Bordon and Liphook Charity fund.

HOW THE BORDON AND LIPHOOK CHARITY IS MANAGED

The Bordon and Liphook Charity is run by means of a group of trustees and a management committee.  The trustees are responsible for the overall standing of the charity, its financial security and its strategic policy.  The management committee assists in the day to day running of the charity and its shops, and is a source of advice for the trustees.

Each shop has a manager and only they and the charity administrator receive remuneration.
